Embracing the Unknown

Last week, I had a ❤️ -to- ❤️ with a colleague who recently faced job loss. Over coffee, we delved into goals and strategies. Their resilience and positive outlook in the face of adversity left me in awe.

Despite their challenges of bills, childcare, and obligations during this
#opentowork period, they emphasized that they were excited about the new phase in their life. They wanted to make “what happened to them, something that happened for them.”

But obviously with the excitement comes concern. They commented how great it would be to know exactly when this opportunity phase of their career would end and when they could go back to working - that it would help them leverage this time.

🔮 Imagine having a crystal ball that reveals the precise moment you'll secure your next job. Tempting, isn't it? But as much as we crave certainty, too much detail about the future can be a double-edged ⚔ .

Would you use your time wisely or fall into the waiting game trap?

Through years of working with the unemployed, I've witnessed a profound transformation when individuals take the time for self-reflection and mindfulness. Prioritizing oneself is not selfishness but a necessity. It's the journey that matters. Knowing the outcome-- that you will find a job should not change the journey, because the quality and authenticity of the journey, will greatly influence the final destination.

But there are some ways to influence the path:

🔍 Focus: Reflect on your opportunities. Is it a new career, leadership, or personal development?

💖 Self-Care: Put yourself first. It's not a luxury but a lifelong habit essential for building resilience.

🧠 Awareness: Understand and leverage your skills. Confidence in your strengths is key to convincing potential employers.

💎 Value: Know your true worth in the workplace. Research and learn the market's perception of your talents.

🌟 Attitude: There's a moment when it all comes together, and you realize you're in the driver's seat of your career. You are the asset! This shift can lead to swift job opportunities.

No crystal ball will predict your journey's end, but some milestones will guide you toward the destination you want.
